a wanderlost girl

If it involves an abandoned building, a dilapidated hotel, a zombie church, or a forsaken theater, I want to spend time probing the ruins inside of it. What began as a hometown hobby soon evolved to abandoned locations across the world: taking self-portraits inside abandoned places, “Elegance in Abandonment.”

I grew up in Kings Park, a small town perched up on the North Shore of Long Island, established for and by the State Hospital which sat along the Nissequogue River. As a photographer, my first impression was the haunting exterior - its vast campus and numerous buildings. Once I ventured inside, I fell in love with the forgotten hallways, graffiti-infested walls and deserted inventory of the former hospital. I don’t do this to make a living – but I do need it to survive. It’s my therapy, a passion that pushes all my boundaries, and calls to me every day still. I hope my work inspires you to explore new places, open your mind to eclectic forms of creativity, and most importantly find comfort in the freedom of being yourself.

Though I spend a majority of my free-time exploring and creating, I’ve worked my “day job” in a (non-abandoned) hospital setting for over 10 years. I achieved my Bachelor of Arts from Stony Brook University with a concentration in English Literature, and a Masters in Business Administration from Hofstra University with a concentration in Healthcare Administration.
